A response from Deron

Just in. Deron hath spoken and the answer is a decisive no, stating that OIDG fulfils all moderator needs. From my side therefore I will now delete the group. From your side you must make up your own mind as to whether this says anything about TFN and Free Speech.

If you are a TFN volunteer then unequivocally belongs to you, not the other way round. What kind of TFN do you want?

  1. Andy….did you honestly expect any different answer? I love that part though about OIDG fullfilling all moderator’s needs. NOTHING could be further from the truth. As usual!

And as usual DB had his chance to make a difference and chose the path of ignoring everyone but himself.

  2. What did you really expect? Deron’s a coward, ain’t he?

  3. When I was a CL (a Community Leader involved several days of online classes lasting 1 to 3 hours before becoming one) for AOL, we had our own area where we could interact with each other WITHOUT moderation of any kind. It was very helpful in relieving stress as many of us had to deal with very large chat rooms and message boards concerning all kinds of topics. We could also FREELY and WITHOUT fear of repercussion, discuss issues within AOL. When I became a mod at TFN, I found out rather quickly there would never be that kind of outlet and any attempts to change or create it would never work.

  5. JustMe,
What was asked was in the posting http://freecycling.wordpress.com/2007/09/06/i-do-not-want-tfn-to-die/.

Essentially I was offering Deron the opportunity to have an unmoderated version of OIDG. He said no.
